Loving the hairstyle on the doll, however (and here comes my cc) the portrait looks kinda bald compared to the full doll.
Maybe with some loose strands of hair peeking out on the side
p.s loving that bag
Also two more things. I like the colour combo but it's too toned down compared to other schemes I've seen around, try using Levels, Contrast or any of those tools to make colours pop. And the portrait seems to have big breasts, whereas the full body is pretty flat. You may need to rework the shading on her blouse.
The brows issue can be fixed by adding a bit of her skin colour (or another colour as make up) to the eye area on the full body. The portrait's face is actually better. But that may also have to do with the colours being a bit on the dark/desaturated side. I go through that with every doll, I know the feeling.
I have posted the edited version on the MDE background colour, as I think the colours look much better on there. I may up the vibrancy, but its not very me, for some reason I like things desaturated!

In order to fix the arm I traced over your doll. That's when I noticed something was off about her pose. The position of the arms and legs was bothering me, but the clothes hid the exact problem. A stick figure was enough to see what was wrong (to me at least)
Judging by her pose she looks as if she were walking and is about to move her right leg to the front. I may be making stuff up but that contradicts the twisting you've added to her shoulders. Her right arm has already moved to the front while her right leg is still halfway through. Even if she's just standing, that pose looks rather uncomfortable. If you make her face the screen, you can creat a similar effect by tilting her shoulders and hips. I'm not really sure that pose is comfortable, though. But it looks more balanced to me. Never miss an opportunity to show both feet, especially from two different angles, that's always a plus.
Once you have the pose, you can sketch the outfit and focus on designing and colouring without having to worry about the bothersome anatomy.
As for contrast, I understand, and it does look better on the pageant's background colour, but the green-turquoise you're using as a pop of colour could use some more saturation, that way when people browse through the many entries for round 1, yours will stand out much more. As you can see my command of Levels and Curves is nonexistent, but it shows you how it would look with a little bit of extra contrast. You could also use some of the pop colour on her boots (the sole or the heel) or tights (a pattern or something) or some silvery details on her boots (zip, studs, buckles, etc) so they don't look so dark. The main focus for this round is boots, isn't it?
P.S. Next time I'll use Photobucket ¬¬
You are an absolute legend! It was a bit difficult not just to use your stuff cause you are so uber talented, I was like, damn, thats better, now how do I do better than a quick sketch! Anyway, I took most of your well considered advice, and the next version is done, there will be more to do I'm sure, but I think sheis well on her way.
In all honestly, I am so grateful that you took the time to help me, I've been dolling on and off now for nearly 15 years, and I was feeling like, with the demise of the big old communities on the UG and WTM, the dolling world wasn't the same (not that its entirely a bad thing!) It is so wonderful when someone in front of a computer somewhere gives up their time to help another creative, for no reason than to share experience and knowledge. So yeah, umm THANK YOU!!!!
I was worried about being too direct because I know that after dealing with bluntness in almost every aspect of life, something that's done as a hobby shouldn't be ruined by it. But as you say, it's all a collaboration among different people and that's what dolling is really about. I've been dolling for 7 years and I always wanted to do this, sharing and learning from other people.
Thank you so much for the compliments, I'm blushing and giggling like a school girl right now XD
The doll: I definitely see it as a sound entry. The original idea is still there and it only needed some tweaking to give it some flare. I still think it's a bit too dark with that colour scheme, but it may also be my monitor. Have you tried upping the saturation of her blouse? Just to give her outfit that pop of colour to go with the darker colours.
Good luck though!
